“Fight Against Stupidity And
Bureaucracy”
"It
is more important to know where you
are
going than to get there quickly.
Do
not mistake activity for achievement."
Mabel
Newcomber
There
is a terrible tendency these days to try to excuse away stupidity or lack of
focus and attention, by sticking a label on it. Disorder is one of them,
perhaps not the worst. The one I can’t stand is “syndrome”. I would hate to be
afflicted by a non-syndrome syndrome.
Thankfully
I’m not too bad – not so far anyway. I try to keep myself organized and get
things completed, especially the things with important deadlines. But I do have
my moments I can assure you. It is not unknown for me to wander into a room for
something only to forget completely what I’m in there for. And, no, that’s not
a syndrome. Don’t even think about it!
On
the other hand I know a few people who are busy all day every day and at the
end of a day, or a week or a month have achieved absolutely nothing.
A
friend of mind sent me this video clip the other day. He asked in the email if
it reminded me of anybody. Of course I replied that it reminded me of him.
But
I have to admit that there were parts of it that struck a chord personally too.
Have
a look and see if anything looks or sounds familiar.
They call the first one "Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder"
