Where Is The Remote Control?

“Fight Against Stupidity And Bureaucracy”

"It is more important to know where you
are going than to get there quickly.
Do not mistake activity for achievement."

Mabel Newcomber

There is a terrible tendency these days to try to excuse away stupidity or lack of focus and attention, by sticking a label on it. Disorder is one of them, perhaps not the worst. The one I can’t stand is “syndrome”. I would hate to be afflicted by a non-syndrome syndrome.

Thankfully I’m not too bad – not so far anyway. I try to keep myself organized and get things completed, especially the things with important deadlines. But I do have my moments I can assure you. It is not unknown for me to wander into a room for something only to forget completely what I’m in there for. And, no, that’s not a syndrome. Don’t even think about it!

On the other hand I know a few people who are busy all day every day and at the end of a day, or a week or a month have achieved absolutely nothing.

A friend of mind sent me this video clip the other day. He asked in the email if it reminded me of anybody. Of course I replied that it reminded me of him.

But I have to admit that there were parts of it that struck a chord personally too.

Have a look and see if anything looks or sounds familiar.

They call the first one "Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder"
